The color purple is associated with nobility, mystery, magic and power so when S Bowes came across the Grate Life Café in Dayboro, it was not only striking in color, but her mind also wanted to know what was inside. She was not disappointed. The café is located in Williams Street, close to the road and creek. Wooden tables are positioned inside near the café counter, while others are placed along the side of the building and in the back courtyard. The courtyard overlooks the creek and is sheltered by trees. Although traffic was flowing steadily through the main street, the noise did not affect the solitude of the patrons sitting in the courtyard area.
Considering herself a local, owner Niki, husband and their two children have lived in Dayboro for eight years. Originally from Melbourne, Niki trained in London before returning to Australia. She worked in several Brisbane businesses before deciding to take ownership of Grate Life Café.
