July Really the hottest on record????

Dayboro Weather Recordings.

The BOM and all others claim that July was the warmest on record….  but was it? I have been taking records (every 5 seconds) of the Dayboro Weather since 2004.

Dayboro July High Temperature Graph

Dayboro July High-Temperature Graph

The High-Temperature graph above shows that JUNE had the highest winter temperature recorded in Dayboro. Not July.   But hold on… that is only one day….. TRUE.

Dayboro July AVERAGE temperature.

Now that is something different; the AVERAGE high temperature is taken between 6 am and 6 pm and over the days of the month. This means it does not include the cold nights…..

If you take the average temperature into consideration then YES July was the hottest month since we began recording in Dayboro (well Dayboro Weather Station that is).  Ok pictures are nice but what is the real end to end result, what is the average temperature for July, is it getting HOTTER…. ? As I get older I am getting better looking… it is a fact and a curse, so is the “heating up” of Dayboro.

I am afraid it is getting hotter in Dayboro, there is no denying.

How does this work…. you ask. This is how.

I take the constant; this is the average temperature we recorded in 2004, that is when our recordings began. It is  fixed; it does not change as it is in the past. We then take the average for the CURRENT year/month and see what the difference is. That is how we come up with the image above… cool wright (or is it right?).

I use this often to see how we are going with this “global warming”. Currently, we are 1.3C warmer than 2004, which is not too bad because last year we were 2.5C warmer than 2004. Before we go into the discussion about climate change and global warming, you need to understand that these terms are overly simplified. Not only that everybody is an expert in it now a days.

Average rain

Now RAIN is more, WAAAY more important than temperature, in my view. If you have water it does not matter how hot it gets (we only worry about hot, not so much about cold).

Now that is where the real trouble is…. it is way down. Glenn Bell or Glenn Ford or whatever name you go under today, this kind of information could have helped you with the petition re pipeline to Dayboro, you should have asked. I could have written it for you and pretty sure, you would gotten more signatures. A few yrs back I mentioned we get more intense rain periods and further in between, I recommended to get bigger water tanks and if you can build water catchments (dams). The above graph shows you why, it is not to late (never is). Taking the development of housing into consideration, and the already stressed out water supply it might be a good idea to get a water tank.

Let’s have a closer look at how that looks by seasons.

Autumn was wetter than normal, and a fair bit. This was due to Debby (remember it ain’t over till the fat lady sings, and singing she did). This is the second time in 2yrs that we have two fronts bumping one from the north and one from the south. Dumping a lot of water, better get used to that I think the steady rains are gone, we will get bigger dumps in a shorter time.

So we are DOOOOOMED.

Nope we are NOT, sorry, well not yet. If the Labour party gets back to power we might, but for now we are fine.

Global Warming… it is happening and has happened before, it causes climate SHIFT. What global warming does is it heats up the planet, melts the ice caps and changes the way the winds blow because of it. (high and low-pressure systems etc.). What we should not forget is that all this is just the cycle of the earth. We only speed it up a little, so those who are alive now are concerned….(go figure).

Nature will react by shifting the hot water flows further south, this means that Europe will get colder, dryer and less pleasant to live. Before it freezes over, there be all sorts of troubles, it happened before, and it will happen again. It is a cycle. No the earth will not be inhabitable, nature will take care of that, but new terms like environmental refugees and climate change refugees will make it into dictionaries. This is not new either, it happened to the Roman Empire and the Egyptians.

Climate Change is climate shift, if you look at the weather patterns in relation to farming and habitats you see that current farming areas are shifting further south. So if some “clown” in Government states that the Kimberly is the next “fruit bowl/feed bowl” for Australia then think again… as it will not be like that for long (long in terms of climate).

What it does do is…. everybody is getting more aware of what we are doing is not the best thing. Slapping concrete on farming land and push farms out to the centre of the country. There is a reason why the farm lands are where they are…..

Dayboro weather station

It was setup in 2004 at Avelon Downs, in those days it was called Lyndhurst-Hill, over time the name Dayboro Weather was considered more appropriate. Same applies to this information site. The first site was setup under mydayboro in 2004 to seperate the weather from the business sponsors, but that caused a bit of a stir as some claimed I could not claim Dayboro as mine. We changed it to Dayboro.info, and after that to Dayboroinfo, it is funny how things go.

As with all, this site is privately owned, so is the weather station. It is a privately owned and funded “hobby”, things go wrong, and data and information can be wrong.

So please do not use any of this information to:

  1. Order your dooms day bunker.
  2. Dig a big hole to build a shelter
  3. Protect life and property.

About Dayboro Weather

Dayboro Weather is tracking the weather in detail for Dayboro since 2004, and is the "run away" hobby of Me. Back in 2004there was no means of finding accurate weather data for Dayboro. So I decided to do something about it. Providing weather data for environmental studies, law suits, construction industry and chemical tolerance calculations. I also feed weather data to over 20 weather institutes. (Including BOM, weatherzone)
